Comic-Con - The Movie
I'm the good-looking one.

"I've survived my first Comic-Con and what an adventure it was. Exhausting, but exciting every step of the way. From the massive sleep overs in front of Hall H to the endless strolls throughout the Gaslamp Quarter to the unforgettable Comic-Con presentations, this was certainly a weekend I'll never forget. More importantly, its one I greatly look forward to next year. Rather than going into more detail on all the panels (Adam looks to have most of that covered--babbling beeotch!!!), It's time you experienced it first hand the treasures you the reader/viewer a true taste of what we experienced. Oh and thanks to Marian Mast for hooking us up with an amazing Canon HD camera) What we've done is sifted through a great deal of footage and uploaded it to share with all of you. Before we get to it, it should be noted that some of this stuff isn't of the best quality (compressing is a bitch) but there's still quite a bit of fun to be had here. Secondly, there are moments throughout the panels when things get a little choppy. Sorry. My damn hands got tired. Finally, we were prohibited from shooting the amazing sizzle reels (and there were a lot of them), but thankfully, Adam touched on a lot of that stuff in his articles. That should about sum it up. Thanks to the Zboneman.com crew for making my first Comic-Con venture such a blast! We have 7 Vimeo links to share with you, each with an intro by yours truly. COMIC-CON HIGHLIGHTS There were some sound issues in Hall H this year. These particular issues were a first according to Adam. Comic-Con was good enough to have a designated area for photographers and video cameras, stage right. Sadly though, I couldn't hear very well up there. I soon discovered that getting footage of the presentations from the standard seats in the convention hall worked out much better. After sifting through all the footage, we found that some of the sound was so bad that we couldn't really use a lot of it. Rather than throwing it in the garbage however, we decided to put together a little highlight reel featuring clips from presentations for Megamind, Tron: Legacy, Thor, Super, Green Lantern, and a few others. Have a look. HIGHLIGHTS REEL (3 MINUTES); THE EXPENDABLES Moderated by Aint-it-cool-news.com mastermind Harry Knowles, The Expendables panel was great fun. The panel featured...actually, these guys don't really need an introduction. Just have a look for yourself. THE EXPENDABLES PANEL (AN EPIC 40 MINUTES) SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World was all over the convention this year. Immediately following the panel, Edgar Wright threw a special screening of the film up in the middle of town. He personally greeted each fan as they entered the screening room. Pretty damn cool! And if getting to see Scott Pilgrim wasn't kick ass enough, the movie was preceded by a DJ set by Dan Automator, and followed by a blistering 30 minute performance from rockers Metric. The panel was loads of fun, as you're about to see. SCOTT PILGRIM PANEL (17 MINUTES); DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK The very idea of getting to hear Guillermo del Toro speak in person was a big draw for me and thankfully, this panel didn't disappoint. Informative presentation. Del Toro talked a bit about leaving The Hobbit and even gave a little insight into the new Haunted Mansion movie he's penning. What he didn't really talk too much about was At the Mountains of Madness. Ironically, shortly after Comic-Con, he revealed that this H.P. Lovecraft property would be his next directorial effort. Why he didn't break the news at Comic-Con is beyond me. Regardless, this panel left me speechless. DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK PANEL (30 MINUTES); THE OTHER GUYS Just saw The Other Guys the other night and thought it was ok but honestly, I don't get what all the fuss is about. Adam went ape shit over it. It has its moments but quite frankly, I enjoyed this hilarious Comic-Con Other Guys presentation more than I enjoyed the movie itself. Ferrell, Wahlberg and director Adam McKay are hilarious, and Eva Mendes...oh sweet, sweet Eva Mendes. Yummy! Her little flirtation with a teenager in the audience is priceless! THE OTHER GUYS PANEL (28 MINUTES); THE GREEN HORNET This was a tough one. The Green Hornet has been the subject of much debate lately. When the trailer premiered, some folks were confused by the tone of the film. Is it a comedy with action or an action film with comedy. Adam proclaimed this panel his second least favorite of Comic-Con 2010 (right behind Battle Los Angeles/Salt), and while the footage shown did nothing to change his opinion of how the project looks, we're both interested in seeing it simply for director Michel Gondry's involvement. Gondry and stars Seth Rogen and Christoph Waltz were on hand. I don't know. I thought the panel was ok, but it was certainly lacking the buzz factor. We only got about five minutes of this bad boy but have a look and decide for yourself. THE GREEN HORNET PANEL (5 MINUTES); DRIVE ANGRY This clip is the shortest of the bunch. Nicolas Cage was a little too serious, but the movie looks like a lot of fun. And it was pretty damn cool getting to see character actor William Fichtner in person. DRIVE ANGRY PANEL (4 MINUTES); Unfortunately, we didn't get footage from the much talked about Marvel, Cowboys and Aliens, and Joss Whedon/J.J. Abrams panels but rest assured, they were pretty damn spectacular. Again, you can read Adam's articles for more insight. God bless Comic-Con. It really is a cinematic paradise!!!!
