In A Family Way

My goodness, it's been a crazy month. And Christmas has had nothing to do with it. Now that I've finally got an agent - I spend all my time trying to keep the man happy. But I intend to, because no matter how ornery they might be - they're twice as hard to get as a hole in one. And, for writers, they're more important than words. Back when I was trying everything to get one, out of frustration I called up a big famous agency in LA and when the woman answered I told her I was a brilliant writer and unless they snapped me up, I'd take my genius across the street to their competition. Once she'd stopped laughing, she informed me that they accept clients strictly on the basis of referral. "Okay," what kind of referral - by whom?" An agent. "Right, you see that's the thing, I don't have an agent." Then why on earth did you call an agency? "Because I have this hot new writer I wanted to refer to you, he needs an agent, and I'm just so busy with all my agenting, that I don't have time to offer the kind of top notch representaion that he requires - because of how brilliant he is." Sir - what kind of fool do you think I am? "I don't know, just the regular kind - I guess?" Ka-lick.

Anyway, so the site has suffered as a result of my inability to keep my agent happy - but now that it's Christmas I'm hoping for a modecum of peace on earth so I can spend some quality time with zbone.

Merry Christmas by the by - We comedy writers got a nice gift in the form of a new fetus in the Spears family. Britney has got to be so beleaguered that when she heard the news the first thing that raced through her mind was probably alibis. It's not mine I swear, I was in rehab. The first thing I thought when I heard the news was, wow - she's lucky her show is on Nick at Night instead of the Disney Channel. I guess these things should be expected. The writer's are striking and what's the old saying "idle hands are the devil's Disneyland. Early reports are that she will be keeping the baby - which will give the writers of Zoe 911 I mean 101 a nice challenge when and if the strike is resolved. It's certainly heartwarming news to learn that she intends to go ahead with the pregnancy, when you look at Britney's natural parental instincts I don't think it'll matter that her sister is 5 years younger. As for the father of the child Casey Aldridge (13) his Dad is planning on sitting him down for "the talk" so I'm sure it'll all work out. One interesting development is that Kevin Federline has already filed for full custody of the child. When asked to comment he shrugged and said, "hey - I'm on a roll."
