Sucking I Am Legend From Both Ends - Pray Justice is Done
"I know she's the only woman left on the planet, and to be honest she's not half bad looking - but trust me, the shirt speaks volumes. If this is where mankind gets it's jump start, it may take us a while to get back on top of the food chain."

Way back in 1954 IDW Publishing hooked up with novelist Richard Matheson to create one of the most sought after graphic novels ever - I am Legend. Now just months before Warner Bros December release of the third film adaptation starring Will Smith, IDW will resurrect the out-of-print books with a new deluxe collection that showcases the original novel's vision in advance of the film.

When IDW first released its graphic adaptation of I Am Legend, theclassic tale of terror, isolation and vampirism, the trade paperback became an immediate best-seller and quickly sold out. Now The story of the last man on an Earth overrun by undead has seen life as a movie several times already, including the Vincent Price 1964 chiller The Last Man on Earth, which Matheson disliked so much that he removed his name from the writing credits, and Charlton Heston's The Omega Man, a 1971 film that instead became a commentary on modern society at the expense of the tale's vampiric elements.

"Our book is a very faithful adaptation of the novel itself," says Chris Ryall, IDW's publisher and editor-in-chief. "The upcoming movie will tell a variation on the story, but the graphic novel adaptation is the definitive take on the Richard Matheson book that has captured generations of fans"

The author of this GN adaptation is likewise a celebrated name among vampire fans: Steve Niles, who co-created IDW's blockbuster bloodsucker hit 30 Days of Night, being released this month from Sony Pictures and producer Sam Raimi. Niles adapted the novel with art from Elman Brown. Do yourself a favor go see 30 Days of Night and try to get a copy of the GN version of I am Legend and pray that this film version respects the original Matheson's original vision.
