Ain't It Cool vs. View Askew

Dawson's Quick: rushing to the aid of her good friend Kevin Smith she was anything but silent. She's fast becoming my favorite human being.

When Kevin Smith finally made it to the stage at this years Comic-Con, (his scheduled early afternoon slot which he had to miss due to getting stuck in traffic on the 5 from LA - was bumped back to 6:30)he appeared to be carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. Though visibly beleaguered and world-weary he still brought the crowd of over 5000 to howls of laughter, but it was clearly not the "energetic and full of piss" Smith who stole the show at last years convention. At one point during the Q and A a fan asked Smith to expound upon the war of words that's had cyber-space asizzle for the past few months. Responding to criticism that had been mounting on the message blogs at aintitcoolnews, Smith has been going back and forth defending himself and launching his own missives. In response to the question Smith said that it began to occur to him as the war progressed that both sides were just making themselves look stupid, and so he eventually just gave up and let them "win."

One quick note, props go to Rosario Dawson for stepping in for Smith earlier in the day, when it was thought that Smith might make it on time to fill his scheduled spot, she was funny, charming and won the crowd over with stories from the set of the recently released and much anticipated Clerks 2. Rosario is without question the "it" woman in Hollywood and her stock went up a few notches by doing her friend Kevin Smith a solid. All the while "giving" the males in the audience a solid.
