Deschanel as Joplin - Cool

Oh my god - could anyone be more awesome? No is the correct answer in case you were curious

Singer Pink (who sucks MNF) has been replaced as singer Janis Joplin in the biopic "Gospel According to Janis." She pulled out of the Penelope Spheeris film earlier this year and now Zooey Deschanel was selected to take it over. The script has gone through many revisions and now focuses on former Rolling Stone writer David Dalton. He had been assigned to write a cover story comparing the troubled Joplin to Judy
Garland. Dalton had accompanied the singer on a long tour and his adventures will become the central plot of the film. Over the last four months, Deschanel has been working with a vocal coach to mimic Joplin's gritty vocals. She will sing all of Joplin's songs
which are in the film. Producer Peter Newman says that it was a struggle to find an actress who could sing or vice versa. Filming starts on November 13th in Philadelphia and the film is to be released in 2008. Oscar winner Rene Zellweger is attached to another Joplin biopic which is currently on hold at Paramount Pictures for script revisions. Little tip from the Bone - Zooey is the best actress working today and the film will therefore rock. And God help those who disagree - you know who you are - scum
