I . . . am a legitimate phenomenon!

While promoting Avatar, Sigourney Weaver revealed that Ghostbusters III looks to be a go. Weaver suggested that the film might involve Dana's son--Oscar--following in his father's footsteps. She also suggested that Peter Venkman might appear as a ghost in the sequel! Interesting. I love Ghostbusters! I'm all for another one. Especially if they get the right director. Someone like...Jason Reitman! How cool would that be?
As for a potential plot line, I once talked to another film buff (a seasoned pro who happens to write for the venerable aint-it-cool-news.com) who told me he thought it would be cool if the original Ghostbusters die, but come back as ghosts to train the new Ghostbusters. That's an intriguing set up. All that's really known about the project at this point is that its being penned by "The Office" crew and that Murray, Aykroyd, Ramis, and Hudson have all expressed interest in returning. Original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman will be involved in some capacity (again, how cool would it be if he handed the directing reigns to his son?). As for the new Ghostbusters? Who knows. I'd like to see some of the Apatow crew on board. Paul Rudd, Jason Segal, Jonah Hill, and Seth Rogen would make great Ghostbusters. Or how about Jack Black? Or they could just go with unknowns. A lot of possibilities. Whatever direction the film makers decide to go, consider me excited!
