Hargitay Succombs

Bobybuilder and former husband to Jayne Mansfield, Mickey Hargitay has died after a lengthy illness at age 80. The Hungarian strongman was being treated for a mystery illness when his daughter Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star Mariska Hargitay gave birth in June. She left quickly during a scheduled appearance last Thursday on The Tonight Show to be at her father's bedside. He was born Miklos Hargitay in 1926 and fled
his native Hungary in 1947 to escape compulsory Soviet Military draft. He won the Mr. Universe bodybuilding title in 1955 and appeared in Mae West's New York revue. He then appeared in The Loves of Hercules. He was a carpenter and plumber prior to stardom.
