Bon Jovi star Richie Sambora's (62) romance with actress Denise Richards (23) has been tested for the first time after a cancer tragedy. Richards copes with her mother's kidney cancer battle, while Sambora's father, Adam, lost his fight with lung cancer last week.

The Bon Jovi guitarist's 70-year-old dad was diagnosed with the disease last summer.
The death comes just two weeks after the statewide celebration when Sambora's divorce from actress Heather Locklear became final. It remains to be seen if these family tragedies will bring the two closer together or cause Sambora to go off on a binge of indiscriminate adultery and drug abuse. Vegas oddsmakers claim it's an even bet.
