Bryan Singer is off shooting Valkyrie with Tom Cruise right now. In the film, Cruise plays a German solider who was involved in a failed Hitler assasination attempt. While he's been off working on this movie, a rumor arose that the much talked about Superman Returns follow up was being put on hold so that Singer could concentrate on another film as soon as he's finished with Valkyrie. Robert Sanchez and the folks over at IESB.net recently debunked that rumor. Singer is set to shoot Superman: The Man of Steel sometime next year. No word on an official plot, but in 2006, Singer stated that it would be more of an action piece and that he'd use The Wrath of Khan as a stepping stone. For a while, it was even being speculated that General Zod might be thrown into the mix (if this materializes, I love the idea of Jude Law in the role). Whatever the case may be, I'm really excited about another Superman movie. Whie I was somewhat disappointed by Superman Returns, I've really grown to appreciate the film. At the very least, I loved what Singer did with it tonally speaking. It really did follow suit with the Donner film. We'll keep you posted.
