A MERRY MOVIE CHRISTMAS: A BENEFIT TO SAVE DIXIE CARE AND SHARE

For years, St. George Utah's Dixie Care and Share has strived to help those who are a little less fortunate. Sadly, with the economic down turn, Dixie Care and Share may be forced to close its doors. In a humble effort to help keep this hard working charitable organization in operating mode, Westates Theatres, Planet 94.1, Rent-A-Video, and The Guerilla Shorts Showcase are presenting a special holiday event for folks of all ages. Its called "A Merry Movie Christmas: A Benefit to Save Dixie Care and Share" and if you're a fan of holiday films, you wont want to miss it! Be it yule tide classics, contemporary holiday fare, or unconventional Christmas gems, there's a little something in the line-up for everyone. And getting to experience these classic holiday films with a packed house will only add to that overwhelming feeling of the Christmas spirit. Starting on Friday, December 9th and ending on Sunday, December 25th, Westates' Red Cliff Cinema will screen a holiday treasure 3-4 times each day. Each screening will include a short from our special Holiday Edition of the Guerilla Shorts Showcase. In the middle of this seventeen day fund raising event—on Saturday, December 17th to be precise-- join Red Cliff Cinema (aka Santa's Workshop) for a special day of programming that's sure to give you the "warm and fuzzies". It'll start at 1PM with screenings of "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer", "A Charlie Brown Christmas", and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" (1966). This trio of unforgettable animated Christmas classics will be followed by a special appearance by Santa Claus himself. The jolly fellow will be on hand to take photos and mingle with the kids. At 4PM, "Elf" returns to the big screen. Then, stick around for The Holiday Edition of The Guerilla Shorts Showcase; A collection of Christmas shorts put together by film-makers right here in St. George. For those looking for edgier holiday fare, we'll be closing out this special day of holiday programming with a night time screening of an unsung Christmas classic; "Die Hard"! Tickets for "A Merry Movie Christmas: A Benefit to Save Dixie Care and Share" are $2.50 per screening, $25 for a special all access pass (includes Guerilla Shorts Showcase), $10 for a six film punch card, and $5 for The Guerilla Shorts Showcase (Free popcorn included). The majority of the proceeds will go to Dixie Care and Share in an effort to help keep their doors open. Christmas is a time of giving, so we'd like to encourage all of you to come out and lend your support. Happy holidays!!

Due to the "Bah Humbug" behavior of a studio that shall remain nameless, "A Merry Movie Christmas: A Benefit to Save Dixie Care and Share" was left with no choice but to switch a few titles around. In addition to this last minute madness, we also had to drop a couple of movies from the line-up all together. "A Merry Movie Christmas" still promises to be a festive time for folks of all ages, and for a great cause no less. Everyone come out and lend your support!

Can you be more specific about show times (for example, "Holiday Inn" Friday Dec. 9th?) Also will that particular movie be shown at the Red Cliffs Theatre? Where and when will the others listed be shown...Thanks

There seems to be a bit of confusion in terms of "A Merry Movie Christmas". All Christmas films will be shown at Red Cliff Cinema ($2.50 per person or $25 for an all access pass--majority of proceeds going to Dixie Care and Share). Each film in the line-up will play 3 to 4 times per day depending on whether its a weekday or a weekend. Call 435-673-1994 for specific showtimes (for the most part, showtimes will be 1PM, 4PM, 7PM, and 9:30 PM). As for no Nightmare Before Christmas (I'm also bummed out about that), a "studio that shall remain nameless" is behind us not being able to show it. A deal was in place and the studio decided to alter the deal. Since this is a fund raising event, they made it near impossible for us to show it because of what they were asking for in return. We apologize for that. We also apologize for any confusion anyone might have in terms of the overall event. Its going to be a special 17 day run and we look forward to seeing you all there.
