Actress Geena Davis has been honored with the second annual USA Today Hollywood Hero Award. The Oscar-winning star was chosen for her Sea Jane project, which seeks to increase the number of female role models in children's movies and TV, at a gala in Beverly Hills, California last night.
Davis paid tribute to her hero, "great mother and actor" Susan Sarandon, and "mentor" Dustin Hoffman at the ceremony, where she was joined by celebrities including actresses Melanie Griffith, Natasha Henstridge, Mimi Rogers and The Power Puff Girls.
She told the Beverly Hills Hotel gathering, "A hero is not a term I would apply to myself, but I am hungry."
