Rocker Dave Mustaine has no regrets over his drug past - insisting it's made him a better person. The Megadeth frontman, who was fired as Metallica's lead guitarist in 1983 following alcohol and drug abuse, believes he needed to experience the addiction in order to become the person he is today.
He says, "I had to go through all that stuff. Sure, I went through some really hard times, I hurt a lot of people during those times and I hurt myself a lot too, which I feel bad about.
"But I had to go through that, and deal with it all, and without it, my life would be totally different. My problems got very bad, but it was all a learning curve."
When asked if he harbored any bitterness or resentment for being kicked out of Metallica he laughed, shook his head and said "That was a lifetime ago - that's well behind me," whereupon he took off his pants stepped outside, walked up alongside a busy street and began to waggle his genitals at passing motorists. "You can't dwell on the past," he hollered back over his shoulder, then flipped me off, "it's all just horse radish and candlesticks mate"
