Weeds star Mary-Louise Parker has leaped to the defense of rock star Bono amid recent press reports his charity campaign Red was spending more money on marketing than AIDS victims in Africa. Yesterday, US advertising trade magazine Advertising Age reported the campaign raised just $18 million and spent an estimated $100 million on boosting its international profile - figures sources close to the campaign have refuted.

"It's like when you're selling dope, you have to channel the proceeds back into the business or you'll always just be out there shlepping dime-bags" Parker explained.
