Spears Marriage a Hoax?

Divorce papers Britney Spears has filed to end her two-year marriage to Kevin Federline suggest the couple's Studio City, California, nuptials were nothing but a giant hoax. Spears donned a mini-wedding gown for the 'mock' ceremony, which was made famous when the wedding party was photographed wearing matching his-and-hers tracksuits.

In the court documents, which were filed in Los Angeles yesterday, Spears lists her wedding date as October 6, 2004 - three weeks after she and Federline reportedly exchanged vows during an intimate family gathering at the home of wedding planner Alyson Fox.

But now website thesmokinggun.com claims the September 2004 wedding was a "faux ceremony," staged as the couple were still working out a complicated pre-nuptial agreement.
