HAPPYTHANKYOUMOREPLEASE-SUNDANCE 2010
This film from Josh Radnor (of How I Met Your Mother fame) aspires to be an ensemble of Woody Allen proportions but it's actually more in the realm of something like He's Just Not That Into You. Perhaps that's too much of an insult. This movie is considerably better than He's Just Not That Into You but some of the scenarios are a bit tough to swallow. The best storyline involves a luminous Malin Akerman as a woman with alopecia who wants to be loved. Problem is, when she finds someone whose interested (played by a charming Tony Hale), she sort of shuns him because he's a bit of a dweeb. I really loved where this particular scenario goes. This is a harmless, well intentioned film, but I'm really surprised that it won the Audience Choice Award.
