THE COMPANY MEN-SUNDANCE 2010

Coming out on the heals of Jason Reitman's outstanding Up in the Air, The Company Men feels almost dated by comparison. This drama about corporate downsizing was written and directed John Wells (one of the many talented individuals involved in the creation of NBC's E.R.), and while it does touch on some timely themes, it tends to do so in labored fashion. Ben Affleck, Chris Cooper, Kevin Costner, Tommy Lee Jones, and Craig T. Nelson are in fine form in this straight forward (and fairly obvious) movie. The Company Men's primary focal point revolves around a character who loses nearly every thing before he discovers what's truly worth caring about. No real surprises here, but solid acting make it worth having a look.
