TWELVE-SUNDANCE 2010
There was some negative buzz circulating in regard to this Joel Schumacher adaptation of Nick McDonell's novel about privileged upper East Side teens leading lives of excess. Actually, I didn't mind it. It isn't a masterpiece by any means. The fusion of drama (think Less Than Zero) and satire (think Mean Girls or Heathers) doesn't always hit, and Kiefer Sutherland's narration is excessive and distracting, but overall, this sure beat the hell out of last year's similarly themed The Informers. Furthermore, I enjoyed it more than Schumacher's Number 23. Twelve is well shot and, for the most part, well acted (particularly by Chase Crawford and Rory Culkin).ace. Good, but not quite the powerhouse I was hoping for.
