A-TEAM (PG-13)
Starring Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Quinto "Rampage" Jackson, and Sharlto Copley
Released by 20th Century Fox
You're probably saying to yourself, "Is Adam off his rocker? He actually gave A-Team a B?" The truth is, perhaps I am a little off my rocker. It isn't like this flick, based on the cult t.v. show, is a masterwork. In fact, its a relentlessly silly movie, but at least The A-Team knows that its silly. It never pretends to be anything other than what it is; a big, loud, ridiculous actioneer based on a big, loud, ridiculous t.v. show. Helicopters doing loop-to-loops, military tanks flying through the sky, etc. Like I said, ridiculous. But the cast--including Liam Neeson as Hannibal Smith, Bradley Cooper as Face, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson as B.A. Baracus, and District 9's Sharlto Copley as Murdock--is energetic and the key players have great chemistry. Furthermore, A-Team features some of the most entertaining bad guys you'll see in a movie all year. Patrick Wilson is all smarmy charm as the mysterious Lynch while Brian Bloom is a riot as a dry witted assassin for hire. Upon walking out of A-Team, you may find it hard to recall plot specifics, but you'll most likely find yourself smiling throughout director Joe Carnahan's ridiculous bit of over exaggerated lunacy. Why Mr. T gave this a thumbs down is beyond me. This big screen take on A-Team evokes the same loopy spirit that helped make Clubber Lang a house hold name back in the 80's. I pity the fool!
