Why isn't Owen Wilson a bigger star? I find myself asking that question on a regular basis. This guy is an absolute scream. More than just funny, he has a unique comic rhythm that separates him from the thousands of other comedians gracing movie screens.

Behind Enemy Lines certainly won't be the film that breaks this guy into the big time, simply because he seems so miscast. In Behind Enemy Lines, Wilson plays a hotshot fighter pilot (if you can believe that one) that finds himself caught, you guessed it, behind enemy lines. As he struggles to stay alive, his commanding officer (a paint-by- numbers Gene Hackman) desperately tries to figure out how to get his man out of an awful situation.

Wilson is a great smart ass, but isn't at all believable as a fighter pilot. If this video weren't taking itself so seriously as a military drama, it might have worked. Unfortunately, Behind Enemy Lines is too serious to be taken as Rambo and to darned silly to be taken as Saving Private Ryan. This video lies somewhere in between, and that's where it falters.

Wilson is really laid back here. He runs around kicking ass and making his trademark smart alec comments while Hackman all but rehashes his turn in Crimson Tide (granted he's a tad nicer here). Behind Enemy Lines is harmless enough. It's well shot and features some exciting actions sequences. If only this video would have known which direction to go. As a result, it's forgettable entertainment.

Why

Why

Can anyone tell me why comic actors like Owen Wilson and Ben Affleck waste our time in these stupid action flix. Are the paychecks that much bigger. Because I think both of them have taken big blackeyes in their career for pandering to the almighty greenback.
