Forget that the preview to this mystery gives away just about every boring surprise it has to offer and forget that this film is a low rent version of The Fugitive, and you still might not like it. Double Jeopardy is simply a dull film with loads of talent involved.
Ashley Judd (Heat, Kiss the Girls) plays a woman sentenced to six years in prison for killing her husband. Tommy Lee Jones plays her burnt-out parole officer who discovers that things may not be as they seem. Judd can be quite effective, but here she's a composite of Harrison Ford's character in The Fugitive and Julia Roberts' character in Sleeping With the Enemy. She's also forced to participate in a gratuitous sex act in the first twenty minutes that I must admit I loved, but it was completely unnecessary. And then there's the always competent Jones who's played this role twice before.
This film is one of those obvious wannabe nail-biters that never really works because it's so damned predictable. There is not one unexpected twist or surprise in the entire film.
