Minus Man is an interesting little film that made it's debut at the Sundance Film Festival. Owen Wilson (Bottle Rocket, The Haunting) plays a drifter with an unusual hobby who finds himself very fond of his new home in this interesting take on film noir.
This film is a sometimes disjointed, slow moving film that gets it's heat from stirring performances. Wilson plays his character as a sweet-natured simpleton in an aw-shucks manner that's quite engaging. Also terrific are Mercedes Ruehl (The Fisher King), Dwight Yoakam (country singer), Dennis Haysbert (Major League), first timer Sheryl Crow (pop star), and a scene stealing Janeane Garofolo, who seems to light up the screen in every scene.
All in all, the film doesn't really have much of a plot, it's more a series of situations. It's also about a man desperately trying to fit into a society he doesn't seem to understand. Minus Man is a likable, but inconsistent film that would have been more aptly titled Forrest: Portrait of a Serial Killer.
