I don't make a habit out of reviewing coming attractions, but with the new Star Wars trailer, I have to make an exception. About two weeks ago, audiences around the country got their first look at the long awaited prequel. With exception of the title, audiences are now more excited than ever before, myself included. This also marks the first film George Lucas has directed since the first Star Wars in 1977.
Since Episode One is a prequel, we already know the outcome to this story. How it all came about is what Lucas will attempt to portray in the new trilogy which takes place several years before Star Wars. It will chronicle the life of Anakin Skywalker, the future Darth Vader, as a young boy.
The trailer features many familiar characters including Yoda, R2D2, C3PO and Ewan McGregor as a young Obi Wan Kenobi. Notable actors that popped up in the preview include Samuel L. Jackson, Natalie Portman and Liam Neeson. As expected Episode One will feature a barrage of special effects far more advanced than the previous films. But the digital effects aside, it's the story I'll be looking forward to. It's been a long wait but come May 21, 1999, the force will once again be with us.
