Those zany Coen Brothers are back to bring us more of their unique vision. The bad news: This, in my opinion, is the Coen Brothers' worst film. The good news: It's still a terrific film full of eccentric characters, outrageous humor, and visual flair.
Jeff Bridges plays Dude, a burned out, unemployed stoner that gets caught up in a case of mistaken identity. The Coen Brothers chief strength is writing quirky dialogue, and with The Big Lebowski, they show their knack for colorful word play. The problem here, is the story structure. The Big Lebowski introduces many odd characters engaging in often hilarious conversations, but the film as a whole, lacks cohesion.
Still, the Coen Brothers have filled their newest effort with so many vibrant images and original characters, that you can't help but leave the theater with a big smile on your face. The hilarious cast includes: John Goodman, David Huddleston, Julianne Moore, Steve Buschemi, and John Turturro as Jesus, a bowling pedafile. It has to be seen to be believed.
