This family film based on the children's book by Mary Norton, has some of the best production values I've seen in a long time. It's too bad the film makers didn't invest a bit more into the story and character development. The Borrowers are tiny people who live in the hard to reach places of your home. They're also responsible for household items that wind up missing. John Goodman plays a nasty land developer that gets more than he bargains for when he tries to force a family from their home.

The Borrowers is beautiful to look at, but most of the characters, including The Borrowers themselves, make the film hard to completely recommend. Still, this is a good film that the whole family can enjoy, and there just aren't that many good family films out right now.
