This animated biblical story blew me away with it's very adult story and brilliant animation style. To top that off, it's not a Disney film. It was made by Dreamworks, who delivered Antz earlier this year.

It tells the story of Moses from boyhood to his heroic deliverance of his oppressed people. We're all familiar with the story, but this film is all about visual style and it delivers. The top notch cast includes the voices of Val Kilmer (The Doors), Ralph Fiennes (Schindler's List), Jeff Goldblum (Jurassic Park), Michelle Pfieffer (Batman Returns) and Sandra Bullock (Speed).

This feature took four years to make and it shows. Most notable is the parting of the Red Sea, an exciting sequence that matches the classic Cecil B. Demille stunner from The Ten Commandments. This film isn't for everyone, most likely it will put the toddlers to sleep. I would recommend it for ages ten and up. It's nice to see another film company giving Disney a run for their money.
