I've heard that people are starting to call this the sleeper hit of the year. Firstly, I don't think a film that cost tens of millions of dollars and stars the likes of Owen Wilson, Vince Vaughn and Christopher Walken, would really qualify in that category. Regardless, people are maybe expecting this to do okay, but personally, once word spreads of the quality of this comedy, New Line will probably have a film that does huge business, no matter what you call it. Sleeper or whatever, I call it a hit!

The plot of the movie breaks down like this. Jeremy Klein (Vaughn) and John Beckwith (Wilson) are a couple of Washington based divorce lawyers who just happen to gatecrash weddings on the weekends to score with ladies. On one particular weekend, at one high-society wedding involving father-of-the-bride Walken, Wilson's character falls for the sister of the bride, an ever gorgeous Rachel McAdams (The Notebook). Meanwhile, Vaughn scores with the other sister, a sex crazed apparent 'virgin'. Hilarity ensues.

Frequent visitors of the site know that I have a regular thing where I come in from the pub late on a Friday or Saturday night, crack open another and bung on a movie. One of my favourite movies for this type of event is Todd Phillips's Old School. The film is just spot-on in every way, and although Ferrell steals the show as Frank The Tank, it's Vaughn's character who is the other big scene stealer. I'm a huge fan of that movie, and expected to love this.

The story is mainly based around the love that develops throughout the movie between Wilson's character John and McAdams's character Claire. So, Wilson steals this particular show right? No, it's Vaughn that owns this movie. From frame one. Most of the laughs come from his direction, and the wonderful relationship that builds between him and the other sister Gloria, played here by ex-Home and Away actress Isla Fisher, who is exceptional in her role. She's come along way since the days of her dating Darren Day! But as I said, this is really Vaughn's movie, and it's his misfortune throughout that give us the shining, laugh out loud hysterical moments in the film. I'm not quite sure if I liked him as much here as much as I liked him in Old School, but it's up there.

I must admit, I was waiting for the Will Ferrell cameo, after being tipped off of his involvement by a friend just before the screening, particularly after seeing his superb turn in Starsky and Hutch. It comes right at the end, and while he's reliable kick ass funny, it's not quite up there with the aforementioned performance.

I hope the movie does well, and it's nice to see an original movie come out in a summer of sequels and remakes, although you will notice the similarities between this, and say Meet The Parents for example. But it's all good fun, and I had a ball.

Wedding Crashers is like a girl who you know you're gonna have a good time with for a one-night-stand or even a weekend, but it's not the girl you're gonna march down the aisle with. What I'm trying to say is that I didn't really love this movie, but I liked it an awful lot.

You will too. Go see!

Wedding Crashers is hands down the best thing that's happened to movies since Lord of the Rings and I'm being serious. Lord of the Rings changed the face of cinema and I think in a different sort of way Wedding Crashers is accomplishing something important as well. The PG-13) PLAGUE HAD GONE TOO FAR. And with a nice funny, sexy R rated film taking the box office by storm it might help put a dagger in this PG-13) bullshit for good - LETS HOPE SO!!!!!!!
