I guess writer-director Nora Ephron decided if she could get away with a formula once, why not try it again? Once again, she has Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan starring in a film about romance and fate. However, this time, it occurs courtesy of the internet.

In this film, Hanks is a shrewd businessman and Ryan is the owner of a small bookstore. Through the internet they fall in love, having never met each other. The catch is, in the real world, they do know each other and don't exactly get along.

While far from great You've Got Mail is harmless enough--it's a sure-fire date movie. Hanks is fantastic and Ryan is as cute as ever. Like Sleepless in Seattle, their chemistry is undeniable and watching them together is what really makes the film work. Greg Kinnear also turns in a likable, breezy performance. Ephron doesn't do anything new, but at least she's made a better movie than her last one, Michael. You've Got Mail is hardly groundbreaking, but it is charming and that's enough.
