Adam Green is one half of the hilarious lo-fi duo the Moldy Peaches.
Last year he released his first solo album Garfield, and it pretty much
sucked in the way that Beck's early catalog does. But Greens new solo effort
does have an Odelay kind of sense where you realize hey! the little bastard
does actually have some musical talent. It's too bad that lyrically he's nowhere
in the Beck realm just yet. For the song "Jessica" though, Green deserves at
least two of the stars from this rating. Green sings "Jessica Simpson, where
has your love gone, it's not in your music, no.... you're fraudulant smile,
and the way you faked it when you died." Ah, bitch-slapping Jessica Simpson.
It's just as funny as when people did it years ago. There are some very
good orchestra arrangements on this album, for the most part though, the
rest of it is quite forgettable. Enough of this screwing around Adam,
it's time to get Kimya back and make another Peaches record.
