While most rockers at this stage of their life would be happy to get a gig at the county fair, Aerosmith continues to rock hard and do things their way. Recently inducted into the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame, these mega-stars from Boston show no signs of slowing down. Don't expect a Christmas album anytime soon.
Yesteryear's Toxic Twins, Tyler and Perry and the rest of the boys have created another blazing rock album, one that even surpasses the entertaining Nine Lives. Although not quite in the same league as Pump, Permanent Vacation, or some of their earlier classics, Just Push Play excels with catchy rock anthems, lush ballads, and infectious guitar work. Highlights include the single "Jaded," and the opening track "Beyond Beautiful."
Strangely, this type of rock has never really been my favorite. My wife actually turned me on to them about five years ago. Since, IÕve become a fan and come to realize that these guys are extremely talented. I also find it admirable how they've managed to overcome their personal demons--walking away from their days of ruinous excess, like jaunty pirates on a mission.
With the recent honor at the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame and a new album under their belt, Aerosmith continues to build upon their multi-generational fan-base and their considerable body of work. The Toxic Twins have truely been transformed into the Ageless Wonders. Do yourself a favor and catch them on their summer tour. You haven't experienced Aerosmith until you've seen them live. For the time being, Just Push Play. It keeps going and going and going . . .
