This is album seriously smokes. If Alt/Country music were even within spitting distance of what most people are accustomed to being radio-forcefed, this would get a 5 and bump the Rappers and the Bubblegummers clean off the charts. For fans of this obscure genre--fans of say (Uncle Tupelo, Son Volt or local products the Trigger Locks) this is salve for the soul--a shit-kickin' stomper of a good time.

Bobby Bare Jr. (son of the legendary Country artist) sings with a passionate urgency that echoes Dylan, Steve Earle and even Paul Westerberg. This is fancy company, and I wouldn't presume to put Jr. along side these icons as a lyricist, but it's an apt comparison to his music. If you could use a good strong dose of raw rockin' country, give the boy a chance.
