Over the years, music critics have made a good bit of sport at the expense of BNL. I've always pretty much disagreed--it seems like their beef boils down to the fact that they're too Canadian.
I could offer about a hundred examples of why being Canadian should not be viewed as a musical liability. The naked truth is that these Cannucks write great songs, full of plenty of Pop crackle and snap. Maroon pretty much takes up where their fantastic last album Stunt leaves off.
It lacks the diversity of Stunt, but it makes up for it with lyrics that are sharp and witty as anybody out there.
To be perfectly honest, Maroon has moments that are too precious and predictable, but it's a small price to pay for an album full of catchy, toe-tapping fun.
