I catch quite a bit of flack for telling people this, but the Barenaked Ladies are a great band, and one of the best live bands I've ever seen. On this, their sixth album though, they are starting to really milk this cow dry. New single "Another Postcard" has yet another goofy sounding vocal delivery from singer Ed Robertson that we've now heard countless times (refer to past singles such "One Week" and "Pinch Me"). And the song "Shopping" has got to be one of the most gay songs I've ever heard in my life. And I don't mean that in a derogatory way, it's just that if the guys from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy don't have this as their theme song sometime soon, I'll be really disappointed in them for letting this very homosexual song go astray. Not everything comes up a dud here though. 'Maybe Katie" and "Have You Seen My Love" are two of the best songs that BNL have ever written. And the serious side to "War On Drugs" is touching without being too heavy handed. Overall a good but nowhere near great album from these Canadian goofballs.
