Basement Jaxx are one of those dance beat outfits that definitely walk the line between ass shaking genius and teeth grinding annoyance. Anyone interested in the former should check out their debut album Remedy, and anyone wanting to stay away from the latter should steer clear of their second release, Rooty. Now with the release of Kish Kash, Basement Jaxx have smoothed things out a bit, but can still make you reach out for that next track button. Tracks such as ìGood Luckî featuring Lisa Kekaula from the Bellrays and (God help me for saying this, but) "Plug It In" featuring J.C. Chasez from Nsync could get any party started in a hurry. The best track though is the electro-klash beat that Siouxsie Sioux sings over on the self titled track. But while listening to songs such as "Lucky Star" featuring British rapper and recent Mercury Prize winner Dizzee Rascal, and ìRight Hereís the Spotî with Meshell Ndegeocello, I can hear my teeth screaming to me saying "Stop the madness!" Overall though, Kish Kash has just enough fun stuff to numb some of the pain that must be endured while listening to it.
