Great list Ryan. That is until #16. WHAAAAAAAAAT! Interdull? Listen, I like those guys too, but that album recycles more than the new U2 record. The difference is, my boys have been making music for over twenty-five years. Interpol is only on their second album and their already ripping themselves off. It's a shame too, because they have potential. I'd rank Antics as one of the more disappointing efforts of 2004. I'd have a hard time arguing any of the other titles on your list though.

Not to be a prick, but Oneida's "Secret Wars" (a great record that would've made my list, for sure) actually came out in '03. For that matter, so did "Boy in Da Corner" (which wouldn't have made my list, by the way). Perhaps you meant his newest one? Or you need a new calendar? (Just a little joke)

Oh, wait, you did include "Showtime," I notice. Well, dates were made to be fudged, anyway.

actually Jeff,

the Oneida Cd came out on January 20th of 2004. The only reason I remember that is because that and the Phantom Planet Cd were the only two albums to come out that month that I gave two shits about. Props to Slacker for putting that on the list! I completely forgot about it.

Actually Jeff, no offense taken, but both the Oneida and the Dizzee Rascal albums were released January 20th of 2004. (Ohhhh, Snap!).

I understand your argument about Dizzee Rascal's debut, since it was released overseas last year. My personal opinion of imports is that I usually don't want to fork out $20 or $30 US dollars for an album that I know will see stateside release, so I usually don't count 'em til' I see 'em in the US. That's really all it comes down to.

Now for those other hacks (ie. Kevin & Adam), The Format album really was released last year, October 21st of 2003 to be exact.

Well, then, I know not to trust the release dates on the back of the fucking disc any longer! How the hell is a critic supposed to get along these days, without spending hours on-line to confirm this shit? In that case, "Secret Wars" is now my number, say, "8" record of the year. Shit, with that and the Augie March now included, I'm gonna have to seriously rethink. Thanks, guys!

This list is the only list on this site with any balls. Choices 3 & 5 are fucking mistakes, but they are mitigated by choices 27, 37, & 39. I'm somehow excited by your inclusion of U2--that shows that you are retarded but not too proud NOT to show it. Including RJD2 is cute--can you name any other dj's for points? Your love of Tom Waits and John Cale clearly show me that your company would be pedantic and annoying--much like theirs. I wish I could remember a single review of yours from this site! I'll be on the lookout for your fresh-faced optimism and simplistic worldview.
