This release is definitely a unique undertaking. Using previously recorded Marley tracks, today's hottest artists mixed and remade old Marley songs with a touch of rap, rhythm and blues, spoken word and hip-hop. The guest list on this release is an all-star line up: Erykah Badu, Krayzie Bone, Guru, Rakim, Busta Rhymes, Lauryn Hill, The Roots and more. The recording quality is good and all the tracks are very creative, but it feels somewhat bland. The originals were masterpieces on their own. I am not opposed to covering songs, but if the feeling just isn't there, it isn't there. This record holds some merit in that it has smooth groove to it, Bob's songs sound great with electronic beats mixed in, but the music itself was better left alone.
