There was a time when I could've boasted about discovering Bush when their debut, Sixteen Stone was released back in 1994. That was before MTV and the media swept them off their feet and sent them on their fly-by-night holiday. These days, I'm almost ashamed to admit they're a guilty pleasure of mine. Three albums later, Bush havenÕt stretched themselves much further musically than when they broke through the mainstream seven years ago. The Golden State faithfully follows their formula sound, Gavin's straining voice laced above aggressive guitar and emphatic drum and bass. There are breakthroughs at times, such as the single, "The People That We Love," the angst of "Headful Of Ghosts," and the haunting "Out Of This World." It may not be enough to grab newcomers, but itÕll surely satisfy Gavin's true disciples.
