Amid all the hype of the Hip Hop Explosion, (you couldn't turn on your T.V. without hearing about Puffy), Busta Rhymes seemed to be chill'n somewhere in the background. With his second release, When Disaster Strikes, he seems to have struck right where he was needed, offering what so many others haven't--a complete album of hits.
When Disaster Strikes, seemed to have slipped underneath the disastrous events of the year. Even though it wasn't on everyone's lips--it did reach #3 on the billboard charts, and the single "Put your hands where my eyes could see," was nominated for a Grammy as Best Rap Solo Performance.
His debut "The Coming" introduced his unique style, and with "Strikes" he hits the ground gunning with powerful lyrics and smooth rhythms. It has a raw, dark sound that makes him more intriguing than most of your "rhyme-a-dozen" rap artists.
When Disaster Strikes features guest artists such as Erykah Badu, Puff Daddy, and Mase, and only on rare occasion does it run into a dull moment--the hits definitely outweigh the misses. For fans of Hip Hop Bust is a must.
