I was very excited when Chris Cagle's new self-titled album hit the record stores. Cagle who was once a pro bull rider is now tearing up the country music charts. His first album Play it Loud had good success for the virtually unknown singer. The singles from the first album "Laredo" and "Breathe in Breathe Out" were huge successes. The new album is already climbing the charts of the strength of the new hit "The Chicks Dig It." You can feel Cagle's intense energy on the faster jams and his softer side shines through on the ballads. Cagle proves that Country can kick ass. Cagle is a strong singer and performer and he makes you believe he loves what he is doing with his trademark smile.

"The Chicks Dig It" is an infectious radio song and it's easy to see why. For us guys we have all pulled some dumb stuff to impress the girls, and I think the girls can relate to it from their side of the fence. Cagle says it doesn't matter if you lose or win it if the chicks dig it. Sage advice from the former rodeo star. There are some good slower songs as well, "I Love it When She Does That" is a song about the things he thinks are great about his significant other. Cagle explains "she touches my heart and don't give it back/ but I love it when she does that." Cagle shows off his song writing talent on this song, it is possibly the best tune on the album. "What a Beautiful Day" is a Jon Secada type song that I think has great lyrics about the simplest concept of all the onset of new love.

Chris Cagle combines the kick ass country jams and the ballads so well that I think he will please both die hard country fans and new country fans as well. Cagle shows that he has good command of lyrics and arrangement. This is only Cagle's second album but no sophomore slump here. I think Cagle will be a big star for years to come if he keeps up the good work. In parting Great Job Chris Cagle for one hell of an album and in his own words of wisdom "Scars heal, Glory fades, all we're left with are the Memories made - Pain hurts but only for a Minute, life is short so go on and Live it - cause the Chicks dig it."
