After a two year break from touring, and three years since the release of Recovering The Satellites, the boys are back together to give us This Desert Life. The latest release by these Southern California natives is filled with the same kind of thoughtful, folky magic that has made the band one of the standouts of the 90's.
From the upbeat party type first track, "Hanginaround," to the melodic and melancholy final tune, "St. Robinson in his Cadillac Dream." Those who are expecting a big change in style, don't worry. The style, and sound that graced us in August and Everything After, and in Recovering the Satellites, is still there. And lyricist Adam Duritz still writes terrific lyrics that address everything from the metaphysical to the mundane. This Desert Life is Counting Crows way of giving official notice that they're every bit as good as ever, and we can count on them to accompany us into the next century.
