I've felt a little guilty with the score I've given Cradle Of Filth's last two CD's due to the fact that not everyone is going to like them. So having forewarned you, the gloves are off and now I'm going to score Cradle the way I want. The truth is a year would not be the same for me without a record from my favorite british black metal band. Cradle Of Filth's new album Damnation and a Day is the first album of all new material since their album Midian, It also marks their debut on a major label--which is none other than Epic Records who has Ozzy Osbourne to their credit. Damnation and a Day is by far the most epic and heavy record the band has recorded to date and, if you ask me, it's their best. For the first time the guitars aren't overshadowed by the drums and you can hear the best riffs Cradle has ever laid down.
Highly notable tracks like "Hurt and Virtue" and "Thank God for the Suffering" will obliterate every bone in your body, and with brutal tracks like "The Promise of Fever" these guys aim is nothing short of total annihilation. Any die-hard Cradle fan should not pass this up. Or if you're in need of something darker, faster, and heavier look no further than Cradle Of Filth's Damnation and a Day.
