Danzig is the reigning king of all-American hessian rock and this new release is another grand jewel in his crown. As compared to his last release, Satan's Child is less reliant on electronic effects to complete the sound and more dependent on catchy guitar riffs and diverse vocals: Danzig can grunt like a troll or sing like a siren and both styles are equally effective. Fans of Machines of Loving Grace and Monster Magnet may like Danzig provided they are definitely ready to rock out on a heavier level. The first three songs all start out almost exactly the same, but don't write it off as a Wesley Willis maneuver, the rest of the album makes up for it. In short, if you like dark, guitar-heavy metal this isn't all blood and guts with cookie monster vocals, check this one out, but save your excitement over the layout art for when you get home.
