Eddie Spaghetti of the reputable punkabilly band the Supersuckers has put together his first proper solo album and fittingly titled it The Sauce. Recorded only in the span of three days, this is a great record full of cover songs and two original works. Kris Kristofferson's "The Best of All Possible Worlds" and Willie Nelson's "Gotta Get Drunk" are two of the best covers represented very well here by Spaghetti's great gruff country twang. My personal favorites though are his two covers of favorite songwriters of mine, Steve Earle's "I Don't Want To Lose You Yet," and Randy Newman's "Blue Shadows on the Trail." As great as the covers are, they can't match what Spaghetti brings to the two originals here. "Sleepy Vampire" is a great little country tune, and "Killer Weed" is sure to become the next big pot smoking anthem. The Sauce is fine departure for the Supersuckers front man, and fans of Social Distortion lead singer Mike Ness's solo album Cheating at Solitare would feel right at home putting this in their catalog.
