Could this be the Men Without Hats tribute band that everyone has been waiting for? Unfortunately no but they do sound a lot like the former Canadian peace mongers. I really like this band although this is quite a tiring record to listen to more than once in a given day. The band's style and sound seems like a mixture of disco, nu wave, and a coked out frat-boy club band that covers Elton John songs at the college dances. Most of these songs are good and extremely original, but, at times, it feels like I'm listening to thirteen different spazzed out versions of Pearl Jam's "Evolution." Track nine gives the listener step by step instructions on how to start a nuclear war on the dance floor. "Dance Commander" and "Danger! High Voltage" have some awesome hooks, techno riffs, and talk about going to the store to shoplift more fire. All this talk about setting the dance floor on fire makes me think of a time when I myself was in a boy band. It was the beginning of 1998 and N-Sync had just taken the world by storm. My dogs and I had started a boy band the previous fall in hopes to catch a piece of fame. My band "Brotown" was sick! We had the whitest and freshest K-Swiss'. We shaved our arms; got ourselves some stylish Fubu jerseys and
swishy pants and we were ready to rule the world. Sadly my dreams of boy band stardom all came crashing down when one morning I received a shocking voice mail. The four other pop phenome's that I helped cultivate had left me and started the now world renown 98 degrees. Yes it is true I was the one responsible for them. Looking back I don't see how I could've been such a fool. I should've killed them when I was really pissed.
