Elefant is one of those bands that is very simple at first glance, but when taking more and more listens you realize just how powerful they are. Centered around lead singer Diego Garcia's immaculate David Bowie like voice, and James Berrall's driving bass guitar, Elefant are out to lament about lost loves and conquer broken hearts. Call them a Smiths for a new generation. On one of the best tracks, "Tonight Let's Dance," Garcia sees a girl with a blue handkerchief dancing alone, and as he grabs her hand he knows that they'll be dancing all night like they're in love. To say that this album is brimming with infectious glow would be a harsh understatement.

On the best track though, the self titled "Sunlight Makes Me Paranoid,"
Berrall's bass drills a hole in your head while Garcia sings about staying
inside away from the sun and other people because the outside world is too
much to take without the girl that he loves. This album is very close to a
5 star rating after seven tracks, but it loses steam right at the finish
line. Still this debut album is proof enough that Elefant have a brilliant
career ahead of them.
