Unlike Gomez, the other new British export, Embrace doesn't mess around with acoustic melodies and tunes you can hum along with. Instead, they dish out an onslaught of hard-edged riffs and those patented whiny-English vocals--sounding more like Oasis than The Verve.
Embrace is yet another British quintet consisting of two brothers, Danny and Richard McNamara. These two seem to project a more fluent sound throughout their music than Gomez. However, the latter has a far more original sound. Embrace unquestionably owes a lot to Oasis, but not all of the tracks are as noisy as their fellow Brits. Danny's vocals are right on key--containing a Noel Gallagher-ish quality. The final song, "The Good Will Out," is arguably the best one on the album. It starts with Danny's strong vocals predominantly accompanied by a soft piano, and then crescendos as the other bandmates join in.
If you're not a fan of the other bands mentioned above, I can't recommend that you take a chance on this one. For the rest of you, I promise that you will enjoy some great tunes.
