There's no question that Faith is a hottie, it's almost worth buying the CD just to look at the pictures in the liner notes. The first half of the album sounds like they were in a hurry to duplicate the sexy, crossover spunk of Shania Twain, but the songs lack the pop-hooks that made Shania a household name. Twain proved that she was much more than just a pretty face and a hot bod, by doing much of the writing on her album, whereas, Hill relies solely on the songwriting of others and the result is much less effective.

The two singles that Breathe has generated are decent little ditties, but compare poorly to Twain's Grammy nominated tunes. Naturally, Breathe contains a duet ballad with her husband Tim McGraw, and to be fair, the album has a number of redeeming moments, but songs like, "You Bring Out the Elvis in Me," and "Love is a Sweet Thing" are downright laughable.

Then just as you think you're in for a dozen rocking crossover tunes, Hill inexplicably changes horses in the middle of the album and transforms into Amy Grant. The last several songs have a decidedly Christian bent that only serves to further confuse the listener and do just as little to "breathe" life into this forgettable release. I thought she was a Country artist, but there are songs on the new AC/DC that sound more country than anything on Breathe. Fools for Hill will, no doubt, be keeping the Faith, but I can't recommend Breathe too very highly, it's a tad calculated.
