Finally, Filter's second release--four years in the making and worth the wait. Filter broke into the radio scene back in 1995 with their heavy hitting album Short Bus. These guys have a knack for pouring on seriously thick layers of tireless guitar and they don't leave any part of Title of Record uncharted.
Whether they plug in or leave it acoustic, these guys aren't fooling around. Filter has taken a step forward in finding new unique sounds. They have left behind the post-industrial sound of '95 and tried something entirely new. They consistently fog their vocals creating a somewhat ambient sound. And then send their guitars on a dissonant voyage, rocking back and forth like their ship is about to flounder, but never does. The track "Take a Picture," already a radio hit, is almost acoustic. This song is unique, in that it is one of the best acoustic ballads written by an alternative rock band since Alice In Chains released their album Sap.
If you didn't like the last album Filter released, you might still give this one a try. You will be pleasantly surprised.
