From Autumn to Ashes is a band I saw live in Vegas back in November. I heard they were pretty hard, so I decided to see just how hard. The Fiction We Live is Autumn's first record on Vagrant and this four piece from the East coast make it into quite an impressive little piece of noise. The lead singer just sings and has a sort of old school stage presence and takes care of the deep-yelling vocals like that of Coalesce or Poison the Well. It's the drummer that does most of the actual singing with the aid of a headset.

It is an awesome mix. Most of the songs start out with a real heavy death metal junn-junn sound then literally with the snap of a finger they transform into a more happy poppier sound, it's great, I've never really heard a band like this before. These guys have a little something for
everyone. There's even a couple of acoustics songs (although the one with some
chick singing is a little depressing) and weakens the proceedings. I would say that these guys are classified as Screamo; with song titles
like, "Alive out of Habit" and "I'm the Best at Ruining my Life" one would be hard-pressed not to label them as some species of Emo. Sorry for the use of the term Emo, I'll try to avoid this useless classification in the future. From Autumn to Ashes is a very intelligent band with powerful, well written lyrics and unique instrumentation, and will be around for a long time. Check out this album you will not be disappointed.

To sum it all up, The Fiction We Live is an amazing album. That's all there is to it.
