What can I possibly say about the premiere U.S. rock festival. Just when you think promoter Goldenvoice has nothing left in their arsenal, they come back with an absolute vengeance. This year, Coachella will last an epic three days. Yes, you read correctly--THREE DAYS! Holy shit! I simply cannot wait.

For the past few months now, rumors have been swirling as to who might play this most prestigious festival. It's the same deal every year. For every correct guess, comes an act that absolutely no one was expecting, and this year is full of the unexpected. We'll get to that in a second.

Let's lay down the groundwork for those of you who aren't familiar with the Coachella Music and Arts Festival (I'm guessing there aren't a lot of you who haven't heard of it, but we'll go through the motions anyway).

Coachella is, more or less, America's answer to Glastonbury. A massive, spectacle of rock n' roll bliss comprised of some of the best music you're ever going to hear, particularly if you're a rock fan. The festival is held every year in Indio, CA, which is just a short drive from blistering Palm Springs.

Kyle England and I have been covering Coachella for the last five years, and the line-ups never cease to amaze us. From amazing British imports, to the best in American rock, to buzz worthy newcomers, to reunions you'd never dream possible, promoters Goldenvoice have seemingly made the impossible, possible. That's never been more apparent than it is with their recent 2007 line-up. Not only have the assembled yet another dazzling roster of talent, but they're stretching this dreamy bit of musical bliss to three glorious days.

Let's just cut to the chase, and reveal the line-up.

WOW! That's really the only word that can describe the sheer genius of this line-up. For those who have attended Coachella in years past, you may notice a few familiar faces (i.e. Bjork, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Interpol, and Arcade Fire) but most of these bands are new to the festival. Last year was reunion light, but this year, Goldenvoice has brought out some big guns. There's been a lot of talk about the Rage Against the Machine reunion (something I'm really looking forward to), but I'm more blown away by the acts I thought would never re-surface (most notably The Jesus and Mary Chain, Crowded House, and Happy Mondays). Simply astonishing. Is there anyone not on the list that I was dying to see? Of course. This is my shameless plea (and I know I'm not alone) to see The Police added to the list. Even if they aren't (Sting and company are expected to announce a massive tour on Feb. 12th--the day after their Grammy appearance), who cares. This line-up has enough greatness in it to keep me smiling for days. Goldenvoice, I salute you. You've done it again.

Coachella will be held Apil 27th-29th at the Polo Fields in Indio, CA. Tickets are on sale now at Ticketmaster. For more information on this incredible festival, log on to coachella.com.

As usual, Kyle and I will present coverage from the festival shortly after it's over. That is, if we make it out alive.
