When mainstream hip hop offers us nothing but bling bling and gangsta , those of us who require a little bit more brain power in the world of rap have to look to the underground. The best around have names like El-P, Aesop Rock, Dead Prez, Jurassic 5, The Roots, Atmosphere, and especially the all star group known simply as Hieroglyphics. Hieroglyphics hail from quite a few of these great rap acts. Names such as Pep Love, Souls of Mischief and especially the grand high pubah Del the Funky Homo Sapian come to mind when you think of this collective. Full Circle offers up great new tunes with fantastic beats, like ÒFantasy IslandÓ and ÒPowers That Be.Ó Hiero also offer up a new tune called ÒShift ShapeÓ that is surely off the chain. With the intro line ÒSssh sssh sssh shift shape! We make sssh ssh ssh sh%^ shake!Ó (notice the editing job on the curse word thank you) you know youÕve got a party started when this gets thrown on. Unfortunately the second half of the album canÕt live up to the first half, and I definitely need to know, why isnÕt there more Del on this album? ThatÕs your secret weapon guys, use him! Full Circle isnÕt as good as their last album Third Eye Vision, but it is still a worthwhile listen.
